AAP to regularise 12,000 contractual workers of MCD on Feb. 25: Atishi

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Atishi on Sunday said 12,000 contractual workers of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) will be regularised at a meeting of the House on February 25.

The former Chief Minister said her party is committed to regularising temporary workers in the AAP-led MCD.

“In the last two years, we have made 4,500 (contractual) workers permanent. As many as 12,000 more will be regularised. This will be the biggest decision in the MCD’s history, where such a large number of employees will be made permanent in a single decision,” Ms. Atishi added.

However, the Leader of Opposition in the MCD House, Raja Iqbal Singh, said “Ms. Atishi is well aware that the approval of the Municipal Commissioner and the Finance Department is mandatory. No such approval had been sought until February 23. This entire matter is a farce
