Erode (East) bypoll 2025 | Plea to ban NTK chief Seeman’s election campaign

The Erode Periyar Ambedkar Federation has urged the Election Commission to ban Naam Tamilar Katchi chief coordinator Seeman ’s election campaign for the byelection to the Erode (East) Assembly constituency, alleging that his controversial remarks on Dravidar Kazhagam founder ‘Periyar’ E.V. Ramasamy would incite riots and promote separatism based on race, caste and language.

In a petition submitted to election officials and the district police on Friday, federation coordinator P. Rathinasamy claimed that during the 2023 byelection in the constituency, Mr. Seeman allegedly defamed the Dalit community, creating conflict between Dalit and non-Dalit groups to garner votes. 

 The federation said that Mr. Seeman could use this election campaign as an opportunity to incite riots by promoting divisive views and hence, he should be barred from campaigning in the constituency.
