by The Hindu Bureau · The HinduThe highly anticipated final season of The Boys is bringing together a long-awaited Supernatural reunion. Jared Padalecki and Misha Collins have officially joined the cast as guest stars, reuniting with their former co-star Jensen Ackles, who plays Soldier Boy in the hit Prime Video series. While details about their characters remain under wraps, the news has thrilled fans of both The Boys and Supernatural, where the trio became household names.
Series creator Eric Kripke, who also helmed Supernatural, has long hinted at his desire to bring Padalecki into The Boys universe. “I feel like I have to complete my game of Supernatural Pokémon, and I have my one big one — very big one — left to catch,” Kripke told Variety last year. More recently, he confirmed discussions with Padalecki about a role, adding, “I love him, and you try to work with people that you love.”
Ackles, Padalecki, and Collins starred together on Supernatural for over a decade, with Padalecki and Ackles leading the series as brothers Sam and Dean Winchester for 15 seasons. Collins joined in Season 4 as the fan-favorite angel Castiel and remained a staple for 12 seasons.
This casting continues The Boys’ tradition of featuring Supernatural alumni. Jim Beaver, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, and Rob Benedict have all appeared on the show, making Padalecki and Collins the latest additions to the Kripke-verse.
Currently in production, the fifth and final season of The Boys will conclude the critically acclaimed satirical superhero saga. Meanwhile, the franchise continues to expand with spinoffs like Gen V, The Boys Presents: Diabolical, and the upcoming Vought Rising, starring Padalecki.
