Actor Saif Ali Khan discharged from Lilavati hospital after five days

After the knife attack, Saif Ali Khan underwent emergency surgery

After being hospitalised for five days, actor Saif Ali Khan was discharged from Lilavati Hospital on Tuesday (January 21, 2025) following the knife attack at his Bandra residence in Mumbai on Thursday (January 16, 2025).

The accused identified as Shariful Islam Shahzad, stabbed him and caused him six injuries, harming his thoracic spine. Doctors performed surgery to remove a 2.5 mm knife piece, as per Dr. Nitin Dange, consultant neurosurgeon at Lilavati Hospital.

After his discharge, Mr. Khan looked stable and was surrounded by his personal security and police officials. Mr. Khan was hospitalised on Thursday (January 16, 2025) after he was attacked in an alleged robbery attempt when the accused broke into his house and in the confrontation, he got injured.

Amid all this, security has increased at Mr. Khan’s Bandra residence. CCTV installation technicians were seen installing cameras at his residence, while the balcony and windows were secured with grills. Actor Ronit Roy, who owns a security agency, was also seen at his residence looking into his security arrangements.

Recreated the crime scene

Police have also gathered 19 fingertips from the Bandra residence of Mr. Khan and took Shahzad to the spot to recreate the crime scene and understand how he broke into it.

Mumbai Police arrested accused Shahzad from Thane district two days after the attack. Upon interrogation, police found he was a Bangladeshi national living in India working with a housekeeping company. 

According to police, Shahzad lived in India as Vijay Das. He was sent to five days of police custody for further interrogation on Sunday (January 19, 2025).
