Trial run of double-decker buses conducted in Vizag

Tourism Special Chief Secretary asks officials to prepare a special action plan for the operation and maintenance of these buses

The trial run of the double-decker buses was conducted in the presence of Tourism Special Chief Secretary Ajay Jain and Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC) Commissioner Ketan Garg on Wednesday (July 2, 2025).

Mr. Jain thoroughly checked the two double-decker buses currently available and inspected the charging station on the premises of APEPDCL office at Sagar Nagar, before conducting a trial run of the buses.

Mr. Jain said that double-decker buses under the brand ‘Hop On-Hop Off’ will be launched soon, adding that the services would help boost tourism in the city.

He asked the officials to prepare a special action plan for the operation and maintenance of these buses, and to ensure that they are run with a good frequency.

He noted that the buses are being brought by the Greater Visakhapatnam Smart City Corporation Limited, Tourism Department, with the courtesy of Visakhapatnam Port Authority.

Mr. Garg remarked that these buses would ensure a convenient and joyful travel experience for the citizens and tourists as well.

District Tourism Officer Madhavi, Zonal Commissioner Kanakamahalakshmi, Executive Engineer P.V.V. Satyanarayana Raju, Smart City Manager Anand and others were present.
