‘Poyiraa Mama’: Dhanush croons a celebration of life and death in ‘Kuberaa’ first single

‘Kuberaa,’ which marks the Telugu debut of Dhanush, also stars Akkineni Nagarjuna, Jim Sarbh and Rashmika Mandanna

‘Poyiraa Mama’ (‘Povivaa Nanba’ in Tamil), the first single from Dhanush’s upcoming film, Kuberaa, with director Sekhar Kammula, is here. Also sung by Dhanush, the folk song has an energetic, upbeat score by composer Devi Sri Prasad.

The track features Dhanush dancing in a funeral procession, with the lyrics celebrating life and its inevitable end. Released in multiple languages, the song has lyrics written by Viveka (Tamil), Bhaskarabhatla (Telugu), Siju Thuravoor (Malayalam), Varadaraj Chikkaballapura (Kannada), and Raqueeb Alam (Hindi).

Kuberaa, which marks the Telugu debut of Dhanush, also stars Akkineni Nagarjuna, Jim Sarbh and Rashmika Mandanna.

The first glimpse of the movie, released in November 2024, hinted at a social thriller. Dhanush can be seen in the role of a beggar, while Nagarjuna appears like a family man. Jim Sarbh seems to be essaying the role of a businessman, and Rashmika Mandanna is likely to portray the role of a woman from a middle-class background.

The film has Niketh Bommireddy handling the cinematography. Karthik Srinivas is the editor. Produced by Sekhar Kammula, Suniel Narang and Puskur Ram Mohan Rao under the Sri Venkateswara Cinemas LLP and Amigos Creations Pvt Ltd banners, Kuberaa hits the screens on June 20. The film is set to release in Telugu, Tamil, Hindi, Kannada, and Malayalam.
