Jamia students hold demonstration over Waqf Amendment Bill
by The Hindu Bureau · The HinduSeveral student outfits, including the All India Students’ Association (AISA), the Students’ Federation of India, and the Congress-affiliated National Students’ Union of India, held protests in Jamia Millia Islamia against the waqf Bill on Friday.
In a statement, AISA said it burnt a copy of the Bill “as an act of symbolic resistance” as part of its demonstration. The outfit alleged that the administration tried to “suppress the protest by calling in the security guards”.
