ITV Masked Singer fans speculate over contestant's accent as they say 'definitely'
by Miranda Pell · Manchester Evening NewsHost Joel Dommett returned on Saturday night to host the fourth episode of this year's series of The Masked Singer.
Saturday night (January 18) was superhero themed, so all of the judges as well as host Joel dressed up to match the theme. Snail, Teeth, and Kingfisher confidently went through to next weeks episode, while Tattoo and Crab were left to battle it out in a sing-off.
One celebrity gets unmasked each episode, and so far in the series, as of 18 Jan, we have said goodbye to Macy Gray, Prue Leith and Kate Garraway who were forced to unveil their true identities. Each week, fans of the hit ITV show turn to social media to speculate over the identities of the celebrities hiding behind the mask.
Masked Singer fans were stumped when it came to Snail, however many fans shared one viewpoint - that they sound Irish.
Viewers took to X, formerly Twitter, to speculate over Snail's secret identity.
On X, @Greg_Phillips_ said: "Snail is definitely Irish…", and @d_a_v_e_m_a added: "Snail is definitely Irish, you can hear it coming through, they’re a professional singer anyway".
Some viewers were hearing Nadine Coyle's voice behind the Snail façade. @GuidingAura2021 said: "Snail sounds like she's from Northern Ireland, Nadine Coyle?", and @SophieSharpie agreed: "Snail is 100% Nadine Coyle!".
@AmyFairbrother7 said: "I think Snail might be Nadine Coyle from Girls Aloud (am not 100%) all the clues point to her, but I could hear an Irish accent, and am not sure which part of ireland she is from North or South and the accents are different!!"
The Irish rumours kept going as @DiscoDarling88 said: "Snail is Jamie-Lee O'Donnell from Derry Girls.", and @Kate_likes_ guessed: "I think snail is Nicola Coughlan".
Snail's identity could be revealed next week...
The Masked Singer will return next Saturday at 7pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
