Coleen Rooney's 'personal reason' for I'm A Celeb stint as she talks struggles leaving sons

Coleen Rooney may have signed up to I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! to show her the public and her four sons a different side to her, ex contestant Kim Woodburn has suggested.

Wayne Rooney's wife is said to be this year's highest paid contestant with a reported £1.5million fee, but Kim believes that, unlike others, Coleen wasn't attracted to the money.

She shared: "I don't know the lady, I've never met the lady, I can't imagine why she'd want to go in, she's got a great amount of money.

"It's possible that she wants to see how far she copes. I don't know why she's going in. If I had all her money [I wouldn't], but maybe she wants to prove to her sons or maybe she wants some limelight for a change, without her husband."

Wayne and Coleen have a reported combined fortune of £115 million, from a number of incomes such as his football career, lucrative endorsement deals and investments over the years.

Echoing her thoughts, Kim said: "I don't know anything bad about her, why she's doing it when she's worth millions [I don't know], but maybe she wants to prove to her family that your mum is a toughie, maybe she is, I wait to see."

Coleen's stint in the jungle will be a far cry from what she's used to in her everyday life, which consists of juggling commitments with her four sons; Kai, 15, Klay, 11, Kit, eight and Cass, six.

Back in September, she admitted life had been "hectic" due to her long distance from Wayne, who has joined Plymouth Argyle in Devon as their new head coach.

Discussing their living situation as she remains in Cheshire, she told The Mirror: "The key thing is I'm really organised. Preparation is key and just to make sure everything's done beforehand. I think that is my main strength."

Coleen went on to say that while Wayne is living miles away, it is "a bonus" to still have him in England, after his previous stint in America.

Fast forward the weeks and the footballer's wife will be even further away from Wayne and their sons as she settles into Australia.

Addressing her upcoming jungle stint, she said on Instagram: "I would like to experience it; something different, do something for myself and meet new people.

"Don't get me wrong, I'm really anxious about leaving the kids.

"For weeks and months that's been on my mind but I've planned and prepped."

In her absence, Coleen has organised for friends and family to help out with her sons and believes they'll "have a great time" when she's away.

"I've written them all a little card to open when they come home from school tomorrow and a little teddy so that they know that I am constantly thinking of them," she added.

I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! airs Sunday at 9pm on ITV and ITVX.
