Man City transfer latest as two more deals set to be completed amid £250m spend
by Amie Wilson · Manchester Evening NewsIt’s been a busy transfer window so far for Manchester City with two new arrivals confirmed, and the club closing in on a third.
Defender Abdukodir Khusanov’s £33.5 million move to City was confirmed on Monday. He has now been joined by Brazilian teenage defender Vitor Reis, who has joined in a £29.5 million move from Palmeiras.
All this comes just days after it was confirmed that striker Erling Haaland had signed a new nine-and-a-half year deal with the club. But City are not done there in the transfer window.
City have another deal agreed - this time with Frankfurt for Egyptian forward Omar Marmoush worth around £67 million. The 25-year-old didn’t feature for Frankfurt against Borussia Dortmund on Friday, but was in attendance where he appeared to bid farewell to the fans.
The long-term injury to Rodri means that City are also in the market for a holding midfielder, and they could return to one of their former players. Juventus’ Douglas Luiz is one of the players they are looking at, according to the Athletic.
The report says that City are looking at a potential loan deal until the end of the season with no obligation to buy included. However, Juve are keen for either a permanent deal or for an obligation to be included in any loan deal.
Luiz was on City’s books between 2017 and 2019, but he failed to play a game for the club before completing a permanent move to fellow Premier League side Aston Villa. He joined Juventus in the summer, but has struggled for regular game time in Serie A.
City are also in talks with Juventus over a deal for Juventus full-back Andrea Cambiaso. It has been reported by the Mirror that City could spend as much as £250 million on incomings in January.
In terms of outgoings, Kyle Walker looks to be on the verge of moving to AC Milan. The Athletic also highlight James McAtee as a player to ‘keep an eye on’ due to the potential of limited game time after the signing of Marmoush and the return of Oscar Bobb from injury. There has been interest in the academy graduate from several clubs.
Jack Grealish is another player who has been linked with a move away. The Sun report that the England man is being tracked by both Inter Milan and Borussia Dortmund over a possible move.
Grealish has struggled for regular game time under Pep Guardiola so far this season, with some concerns being raised over his fitness. The report says he could be interested in a move away from the Etihad to try and help his England prospects.
