BBC Strictly Come Dancing star says Jamie Borthwick 'in trouble' amid Blackpool special
by Jessica Sansome · Manchester Evening NewsA former Strictly Come Dancing star has predicted Jamie Borthwick will be 'in trouble' as the hit show heads to Blackpool. It's a big night on Saturday evening (November 16) as the stars ditch their usual studios for the famous Tower Ballroom.
Every year, the hit BBC One dance competition heads up north to the seaside town where the programme is broadcast live from the Toweer Ballroom as the eight remaining couples perform on the legendary venue's spring floor.
But it won't just be the celebrities and their professional dance partners who made it through to week nine of Strictly's 2024 series, that'll be performing as the special weekend will also feature a performance from Pet Shop Boys, who will open it with a medley of hits as the Strictly professional dancers perform a routine.
Back to Jamie and the EastEnders actor and his professional partner Michelle Tsiakkas will jive to The Ketchup Song (Asereje) by Las Ketchup.
But former Strictly pro Erin Boag is concerned for the soap star. Speaking to Spin Genie, the professional dancer was asked who she thinks is in trouble this weekend and said: "You've got people like Jamie and Michelle who started quite high and have slowly gone down. I don't know if. Does it have anything to do with Jamie’s dancing ability? I think it's the dancers that he's been given.
"This week he's got a Jive, which is difficult - so difficult. If he can survive this week, he could make the final, because he'll be left with a group of dances that he hasn't done yet that will be fabulous. He’s already done a Rumba, so that’s gone as well. The ones you want for Blackpool are Quickstep, American Smooth, Paso Doble or Couple’s Choice. American Smooth because it's big and fabulous, and you have all these backing dancers and stuff. A Quickstep because it just covers the floor.
"I mean, he's got a Jive, he may as well have a Rumba, or a Samba. That's a difficult one for him. So if you were to ask me, who is in trouble this week? I think Jamie and Wynne ]Evans], he’s got an American Smooth. So he's very lucky. I would say Jamie and Wynne are in trouble this week and Pete, because he's got a Cha Cha Cha.
