Met Office issues snow and ice weather warnings this weekend - full list of UK places affected
by Ashlie Blakey · Manchester Evening NewsThe Met Office has issued a number of snow and ice warnings ahead of a cold blast hitting parts of the UK this weekend.
Temperatures are set to plummet to freezing in some parts of the country from this Sunday as cold Arctic air sweeps over. Forecasters have warned there will be a 'major change' in conditions, with an 'early winter cold spell' and some 'disruptive' conditions.
The Met Office has now issued a yellow snow and ice warning to come into force from 4pm on Sunday for parts of Scotland. The warning will last until 11am on Monday, with forecasters predicting ice and snow 'leading to slippery surfaces and difficult travel conditions'.

Another yellow snow and ice warning has been issued to come into place at 10am on Monday. This will last until 10am next Tuesday and covers parts of the north west of England including parts of Cumbria and Lancashire.
It also covers part of West Yorkshire, close to the Greater Manchester border and over the Pennines. The Met Office said: "Spells of rain, sleet and snow are likely during Monday and overnight into Tuesday morning.

"The most likely scenario is for most of the snow to fall on high ground, with 5 to 10 cm possible above 300 metres and perhaps as much as 15 to 20 cm above 400 metres. There is a small chance of snow settling at lower levels, where 5 to 10 cm would prove much more disruptive, but this is very uncertain."
People living in areas covered by the warnings have been warned of disruption caused by the wintry showers, with travel conditions likely to be affected. Forecasters have also warned of a 'small chance' of power cuts, injuries due to falls on icy surfaces and rural communities becoming cut off.
Deputy Chief Meteorologist Rebekah Hicks said: "A notable early winter cold spell will arrive across the north from Sunday and will likely reach all parts of the UK by midweek. Temperatures will drop as a northerly airflow develops, bringing in colder Arctic air.
"This introduces the possibility of snow, initially over high ground in the north from Sunday, with gusty winds also a potential hazard."
