BBC Strictly Come Dancing's Wynne Evans addresses 'conspiracy theories' after 'going missing'

by · Manchester Evening News

Wynne Evans has addressed 'conspiracy theories' surrounding his latest appearance on Strictly Come Dancing after fans were left concerned.

During week five of the BBC One dance contest on Saturday night (October 9), the opera singer and his professional dance partner Katya Jones performed a "beautiful" and bouncy quickstep as they returned to the ballroom following their "inside joke" row.

They performed to the upbeat Mr Blue Sky by Electric Light Orchestra after the pair apologised for a "silly joke" that saw Katya move Wynne's hand from her waist last week while she also refused to give him a high-five.

They were awarded 33 points from the judges with Craig Revel Horwood providing criticism, saying the performance was "dishevelled in places", while Motsi Mabuse called it "exquisite".

But while Wynne, 52, was shown walking down the stairs with his partner at the start of the live show as expected, and later was seen on the dancefloor with Katya, some noticed his appearances in the 'Claudatorium', where the celebrities and professional dancers wait between performances, were few and far between.

After seeing the comments, Wynne set the record straight on his whereabout during an interview with BBC Radio Wales. He appeared on the show alongside Katya, during which he said: "There was some people at home saying Wynne's disappeared from the Clauditorium.

"And there's all these conspiracy theories why I'm not in the Clauditorium. The reality was, I had to go an get my trousers redone because they were sticking to the sticky tape on the side. So I wasn't in the Clauditorium for a little bit because I was being sewn into my costume downstairs."

And as a clip was reshared to Wynne's Instagram page, fans quickly rushed to his defence. @oso.polar.escoces commented: "As if it’s anybody’s business why any of you are ‘missing’ from the Clauditorium!!! There could be any number of reasons…. People need to stop looking for things that aren’t there. You two are doing fantastically well and I can’t wait to see what you can pull off for Halloween week!"
