A missing man not seen for 18 months has been found after family 'never gave up looking'
by Kathryn Williams · Manchester Evening NewsA man who went missing in May 2023 has been found after 18 months of his family's tireless searching.
Shane Barnett was last seen just outside the University Hospital Wales in Cardiff, but then disappeared, WalesOnline reports. Ever since his family have been looking for him every day and have issued a number of emotional appeals in the hope someone might have information about his whereabouts.
Now South Wales Police have issued an update saying Shane has been found and thanked all those who helped in the appeal to find the 49-year-old. One Facebook, Sunday November 24, South Wales Police shared: "Shane Barnett, 49, who was reported as missing in May last year has been found. Thank you to everyone who shared our appeals."

Shane's mother, Diane Bush who has spent the past 18 months alongside her family and SWP searching for her son also thanked all those who helped with locating Shane. She wrote on the Facebook post: "I cannot thank you all for all your shares over the last 18mths, and as for the police, I cannot thank you enough, you have never given up looking and followed up on any leads, and in the end you found him , thank you so much."
In September South Wales Police put out an artist's impression of Shane 15 months after he disappeared. His sister, Nicola Casey said at the time police told the family that he may no longer be alive, but she refuses to believe it until he's found.
She told WalesOnline at the time: "I have spent hours daily searching every inch of Cardiff since he went missing. I've put posters up, I've posted his picture on any Cardiff social media pages I could find. I've had many people message me with possible sightings which I'm so grateful for, I've gone there to check and unfortunately it hasn't been him but I won't stop checking."
