Manchester United 'scout' Omar Marmoush as Ruben Amorim eyes first transfer

by · Manchester Evening News

Manchester United are being linked with a move for Eintracht Frankfurt star Omar Marmoush.

United have been credited with an interest in several potential new signings ahead of the January transfer window. There is now just a little over a month to go before the Reds are able to strengthen their squad.

Marmoush has been heavily linked with a move to the Premier League in recent months. The Egypt international has been widely credited as a potential target for Liverpool, but now it seems that United have joined the race for his signature.

According to Danish news outlet Tipsbladet, United had scouts in attendance to watch Frankfurt claim a 2-1 win over FC Midtjylland in the Europa League on Thursday night. However, the Reds were not alone in having representatives at the fixture, being joined by Tottenham Hotspur, Barcelona, Paris Saint-Germain, Leicester City, Borussia Monchengladbach, Villarreal and Koln.

The report has claimed that Marmoush could be United's first signing of the Ruben Amorim era if they act on their interest in January. It remains to be seen, though, if United will be able to beat several of the aforementioned clubs to the 25-year-old's signature.

Marmoush has scored 15 goals with 11 assists for Frankfurt this season in just 18 appearances in all competitions. That form has seen Marmoush become one of the most sought-after players in Europe, which has led to United seemingly having an interest in his signature.

Frankfurt signed Marmoush on a free transfer in the summer of 2023 following his exit from Bundesliga rivals Wolfsburg. Previous reports have suggested that Frankfurt would demand a fee close to €60million (£50million) in order to sanction Marmoush's exit, whether that be in January or next summer.
