Tommy Fury shows true colours with brilliant gesture ahead of Tyson Fury vs Oleksandr Usyk 2
by Jake Stokes · Manchester Evening NewsTommy Fury has shown his true colours ahead of Tyson Fury's rematch against Oleksandr Usyk. The Gypsy King will lock horns with the Ukrainian at the Kingdom Arena in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, on Saturday night, with three major heavyweight titles (WBC, WBA and WBO) up for grabs.
The first bout between Tyson and Usyk took place at the same venue in May, with the latter winning via split decision after a fiercely contested 12-round fight. The victor became the first undisputed heavyweight champion after Lennox Lewis defeated Evander Holyfield in 1999.
However, unfortunately for Usyk, his reign was short-lived and his IBF title was stripped for failing to face mandatory challenger Daniel Dubois, once Tyson activated the rematch clause written into the contract for the first clash. Nevertheless, the Wythenshawe-born star will be seeking redemption in the Middle East.
Desperate to waltz away victorious, Tyson has gone to extreme lengths to ensure he's in the best position to face Usyk. It's said that he's gone three months without speaking to his family.
Ahead of the blockbuster bout, Tyson said: "It’s been a long camp, been away from my wife and kids for three months. I’ve not spoken to Paris at all for three months, not one word. I’ve sacrificed a lot. It will be worth it (if I win), 100 per cent."
Speaking to IFL TV Boxing, Paris verified her partner's claim. She said: "Yep it is true. I think after the last fight, everything that went on previously personally in our lives and then Tyson obviously had the outcome last time, I just think he decided this on his own and I had to support him in it.
"He didn't want to be involved in family life so he's cut himself off from us for the last few months and he has put himself in a serious, serious condition and he looks very, very determined. So if it's what needed to be, then God willing tomorrow night it will all come out and it will all be good and all worthwhile."
When asked how she has found the time apart, Paris added: "It's been very difficult I can't lie. I supported him in the decision but it wasn't the greatest thing to sit and not speak to your husband for a long time.
"Yesterday was the first time I saw him, we still haven't spoken, I literally was ten feet across from him and we've just barely made eye contact. But I can see and I think in my heart it's paid off.
"I haven't seen him like this since the Deontay Wilder rematch, this was the last time I've seen Tyson in this mood so I can't give you much inside scoop because we haven't spoken for weeks and weeks and weeks."
While Tyson has been away, Tommy appears to have stepped up to the plate and supported his family during the 'very difficult' times. The former Love Island contestant posed for a picture on Instagram with Paris – and Joseph Parker – ringside at the weigh-in.

Parker posed for pictures with Francis Ngannou, Mauricio Sulaiman – the WBC president – and Kevin Lerena's son too, while in Riyadh. He also bumped into Dubois on Thursday, and the pair exchanged pleasantries.
