Traitors’ Mollie Pearce on how stoma bag affects Dancing on Ice performance
The Traitor's star Mollie Pearce has revealed how her stoma bag affects her Dance on Ice performance as she gears up for the 2025 series which starts this Sunday
by Lauren Morris, Kiesha Dosanjh · The MirrorThe Traitors star Mollie Pearce is swapping Claudia Winkleman's Scottish castle for the rink as she joins the 2025 Dancing On Ice series. The star rose to fame during season 2 of The Traitors, savegely loosing out to best mate, and Traitor Harry Clark. Since the age of 18, Mollie has lived with her stoma, which she calls 'Sid'. Now, she's opened up on the impact on the ice.
"It's not been much of an issue for us. I think there's some lifts we’ve talked about and Colin always checks it is okay, but as long as my bag isn't too full then it’s not a problem and it's not stopped us doing anything, Mollie revealed, before stating: "We forget about it a lot of the time.
"I think it's amazing for other people to see someone on TV with a stoma bag," Mollie continued. Last year, viewers saw DJ Adele Roberts take to the rink, the first contestant to compete on the show with a stoma bag. The star underwent colostomy surgery following her cancer diagnosis in 2021 and has since been living with a stoma bag. "I know how much I loved to see Adele on the show so it's really nice," Mollie said.
It's not been an easy ride for Mollie, who suffered an injury just two weeks into learning the basics of skating. The star took a tumble which resulted in her fracturing her left wrist. Due to this, the first four weeks of training with her professional dance partner Colin Grafton were spent off the ice.
Things are all well and good now, although Mollie admitted that both her and Colin were anxious for her to get her skates back on. "I think for me it took me a minute and we were both quite quite anxious when I got back on," she said.
"Obviously, we didn't want another fall, we didn't wanna make anything worse, and I think Colin wanted to like wrap me in bubble wrap," she said. It took me a minute and I think I had to overcome the fear of falling again especially with my solo skating which we’re getting there, I feel like we turned a chapter the last two weeks."
"I think it lighted a fire between both of us too," Colin added. "We were so eager to get back on for so long, we were like, all right, when we got back, we just really worked super hard."
Dancing On Ice will air on Sunday 12 January on ITV1 and ITVX at 6.30pm.
