Meghan Markle's true feelings about 'touchy feely' Drew Barrymore in 'awkward' interview
Meghan Markle has revealed her real feelings about Drew Barrymore with her body language in the new promotional photos released ahead of her debut on the show
by Jasmine Allday · The MirrorMeghan Markle has showed her real feelings about Drew Barrymore, a body language expert has revealed.
The Duchess of Sussex was interviewed by the Hollywood actress - who is notorious for being very 'hands' on with guests on her talk show. A string of promotional photos of the duo were released ahead of the chat - which will air on the show later today.
Judi James, a body language expert, has now given her verdict on the pictures, insisting that Meghan looks "rather more distanced emotionally" as they hug for the promotional snaps ahead of the big interview.
Meghan is on the show to talk about her new Netflix series, With Love, Meghan, which has been panned by critics since its release, whilst viewers have labelled it "out of touch".
"This is a rare pose from Meghan who is normally the first one to move in with the hugs to register the warm, spontaneously tactile side that was apparently met with a tsunami of ice water from the royal firm back in the UK. She has clearly met her match in Drew, whose tactile behaviours on her chat show are a signature part of the brand," body language expert Judi James told the Mail Online.
"But it seems from this pose that what you get when you put two famously hugging women together is that one will bow out, namely Meghan in this case. Meghan adopts a straight, polite, more regal-looking pose here, perhaps mirroring the kind of response she met with from the UK royals when she was busy hugging them."
Judi also revealed that Meghan's hand hanging in her pocket shows she isn't "reciprocating the display of affection", as she also revealed that "Meghan looks rather more distanced emotionally and keener to communicate with the camera than with her host".
Netflix viewers have fumed over the show, making their feelings clear. One wrote: ""I'm not even 30 seconds into the first episode and I already know that With Love, Meghan is the FAKEST stuff ever," as another echoed: "Six minutes of with love Meghan... ok only for richest people..so.. bye bye." A third shared: "All of Meghan Markle ’s “recipes” can be found on Pinterest."
Meghan's new show for Netflix has eight episodes and includes recipes, craft ideas and a few of her famous friends. In the first episode, Meghan puts a beekeeper's suit on to harvest her very own honey, which she uses to bake a cake for her friend and puts in his tea to help with his allergies - and she uses the beeswax to make her own candles.
The comments about Drew come after a royal author claimed that Meghan's "tactile manner" made Prince William "uncomfortable" and that it had fuelled speculation amongst the palace staff that she was flirting with him even though she wasn't. Mr Quinn also noted that Meghan's "warm, friendly, hug-everyone approach" caused a bit of "tension" between William and Harry.
Elsewhere, Drew discussed being "touchy" with guests on her chat show, admitting: "I'm so touchy. People have to warn me. They're like, 'Back off a little bit.' I'm single. I'm not dating anyone.
"I don't have that in my life. But I don't know how I would ever hold back from holding hands, hugging, snuggling."
