Coronation Street Izzy star's life off-screen with husband who also appeared on ITV soap

Cherylee Houston has played Izzy Armstrong on the ITV soap for over a decade now - but it seems some fans have only just realised her husband also has a connection to the cobbles

Fans of Coronation Street have been left utterly astounded with the revelation that Izzy Armstrong's actress Cherylee Houston is paired up with a rather well-known face.

Having first graced Weatherfield in 2010 as Kirk Sunderland's (Andy Whyment) new flame, Cherylee has since become an adored fixture amongst the soap's dedicated viewers.

Izzy, the spirited Underworld factory worker, has certainly had her share of top-tier plotlines – from a blossoming storyline with Gary (Mikey North) to a dramatic two-month stint behind bars in 2016, her journey on the cobbles has been laden with high-stakes drama.

Yet, what's caused quite the stir recently among fans is finding out who Cherylee is married to off-screen, Toby Hadoke who's worked on shows like Emmerdale, Shameless, and graced Peter Kay's Phoenix Nights.

Not to mention, he's at the helm of XS Malarkey, Manchester's esteemed comedy club. Cherylee and Toby's paths even crossed professionally in 2021 when he joined the cast of Corrie, portraying Fergus, a solicitous neighbour concerned for Izzy during the pandemic.

His role highlighted the challenges faced by disabled people across the UK amidst the health crisis, reports Leicestershire Live.

Toby has waxed lyrical about sharing the spotlight with Cherylee, proclaiming: "She's great as well. She's such a good actor. I think it's forgotten because she's so brilliant at bringing attention to the importance of disability representation, she's really good."

And it seems that Toby has had a bit of a history with Corrie. He once spilled the beans, "If you delve into the archives you know, I once married Curly Watts. I was a vicar," revealing his earlier appearance on the cobbles.

He further mused, "They wanted a young vicar at Curly Watts' wedding. If you go back it was about 747 years ago. That was just a one-off."

Fans on a Corrie Facebook page were recently caught off-guard by the romantic link between Cherylee and Toby. A post featuring their photo sparked a plethora of reactions.

One user queried: "How come I recognise him?" To which another responded: "Toby Hafoka! He's an actor/writer/standup comedian."

The revelation left others stunned: "I remember him from Corrie I think, didn't know at the time they were together." And yet another remarked: "Same! Think he was in Hollyoaks as well."
