Luke Littler shows true colours with five-word message about Fallon Sherrock after PDC draw
Teen sensation Luke Littler had his say on his potential blockbuster meeting with 'Queen of the Palace' Fallon Sherrock at the PDC World Darts Championship next month
by Fasika Zelealem · The MirrorLuke Littler showed his class by demonstrating the immense respect he has for Fallon Sherrock when discussing their potential match-up at the PDC World Darts Championship.
The 'Queen of the Palace' will challenge Ryan Meikle in the first round of the tournament next month with a tasty clash against last year's finalist awaiting her, should she emerge victorious against the Englishman.
The teenager will enter the competition in the second round as the top 32 players in the world don’t have to play in the opening round. He broke his silence on the possibility of taking on Sherrock after the announcement of the draw earlier this week.
After watching the draw unfold, the Premier League champion expressed his reverence for the 30-year-old who stunned the sporting world in 2019 when she became the first woman to win a world championship match as she ended up reaching the third round. He highlighted how "it was incredible to watch" at the time when he was just 12 years old.
Speaking to Sky Sports, the now 17-year-old said: "If I do come across her, I don't know what the crowd would be like. Against Fallon, it might be a bit different. I don't think anyone really missed it [when Sherrock reached the third round]. It was incredible to watch."
Almost a year on from his own spectacular run at the tournament, Littler admitted that he feels the "buzz" and is counting down the days before he gets to return to Ally Pally. "Good luck to them both. It should be a really interesting game, because Ryan's playing really good, and so is Fallon.
"It won't be easy [against either of them]. No game will be easy this year, but it'll be a tough test for both of them facing each other in the first round. Either way, I'm very confident, whoever wins. I just can't wait to get on stage. Ever since the Worlds [last year] it has been crazy – this is where it all started for me. The buzz is there, I can feel it."
Failing to progress past the first round in her last three appearances at the world championships, Sherrock will be hoping it's fourth time lucky next month in order to set up a tie with the teenage sensation.
"So I now know I'll be playing Ryan Meikle in round one at the @OfficialPDC World Championship," Sherrock wrote on X (formerly Twitter) following the draw. "The winner will play a certain Mr Littler in round two. Can't wait to play at the Palace again."
