Hammersmith station LIVE: Emergency on Picadilly Line as cops and medics swarm

Transport for London says there has been a 'casualty on the track' at Hammersmith station on the Picadilly line

Emergency services have swarmed Hammersmith Underground Station in London after reports of a casualty on the track.

Access to the station was closed, according to witnesses, and services on the District Line are delayed.

Photographs show several police vehicles, ambulances and fire engines at the scene.

Witness reports 'horrible scenes'

A witness at the scene, Nick Soar, said emergency services at the scene were hurrying to help those involved.

He said: "My thoughts are very much with any injured people and the emergency services who will face I'm sure horrible scenes. All very brave.

"They were rushing with care to help anyone inside and TFL staff very helpfully and compassionately guided people to the other stations."

The head teacher also reported that entrances to the District and Piccadilly Lines were closed this morning with the shutters down. He recalled seeing signs that told travellers to "make alternative arrangements".

Delays on the District Line

There are currently delays on the District Line between Earl's Court and Ealing Broadway. However, Piccadilly Line services have resumed between Acton Town and Hyde Park Corner.

London Underground services are now stopping again at Hammersmith, and the station is now open.

Medics seen 'rushing into the station'

A witness at the scene has reported seeing three ambulances, three fire engines, two police cars, and two Incident Response Units.

Nick Soar, 52, also told The Mirror he saw paramedics "rushing in" with equipment at 8.36am.

TfL confirms casualty on the track

Emergency services rushed to Hammersmith Underground Station earlier today, with witnesses reporting that the station was closed.

Transport for London has now confirmed that there has sadly been a casualty on the track.
