Tyson Fury vs Oleksandr Usyk official scorecards released as result leads to rage
Tyson Fury and his team, including promoter Frank Warren, were left stunned by the scorecards after he was defeated via unanimous decision by heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk in their rematch
by Alex Richards · The MirrorA furious Tyson Fury insisted Oleksandr Usyk had been handed an early Christmas gift as he raged at his defeat in their heavyweight title rematch.
An angry Fury had stormed out of the ring before taking part in his post-fight interview having learned how his defeat to the Ukrainian champion had been scored. Another classic encounter between the well-matched rivals ended with Usyk retaining his WBC, WBA and WBO belts by finishing 116-112 ahead on all three judges’ scorecards. Fury exited the ring and complained backstage: "Honestly, I thought I won by three rounds".
Astonishingly, whether you think Fury won, Usyk won or it was a tight affair that could've gone either way all three judges battered Fury for his showing in the second half of the fight.
Judge 'Jerry' Martinez gave Fury three of the first five rounds, but then gave the next six in succession to Usyk, before giving the Gypsky King the last. Patrick Morley gave Fury four of the first five rounds, before scoring the remaining seven all in favour of the champion. And the third judge, Ignacio Robles, handed Fury just one of the last seven rounds, having had him up a round after five.

Fury's promoter, Frank Warren, made clear his fury with scoring which he could scarcely believe. “It’s impossible," said Warren. “How did Tyson only get four rounds in this fight? Everyone across the front all thought the same way. It’s nuts. Did you only give him four rounds. Nuts. I don’t get it. Really disappointed with that.
“I thought Tyson was in control. Thought he boxed extremely well. One judge didn’t give him any round from round six onwards. How can that be? Same with the other judge here. He gave him one round of the last six. It’s crazy. A nonsense.
"Oscar de le Hoya and I had him [Fury] winning by three or four rounds. What fight were they watching? You lose you lose, that’s fair enough. But come on. It’s nuts.
"It was a good boxing performance by him. He used all his physical attributes. He stayed focused. I mean, come on, count the jabs. All you want is a level playing field and a fair crack of the whip. But that scoring is not good whatsoever."
In his post-fight press conference, a furious Fury said: "I thought I won the fight again, I was Larry Holmesed again. I was on the front foot the entire time. When you don't get the knockout, this is what can happen."
He also took aim at the AI scorecard, implemented for this fight by Turki Alalshikh, which scored the fight 118-112 in favour of the champion. "Computers can f*** off" came Fury's response when told what the AI scorecard said.
Speaking about Fury, Usyk said: "He is a great fighter, he is a great opponent. An unbelievable 24 rounds for my career. Thank you so much."
