Roman Kemp 'axed' from Brit Awards job and has humble response
The 2025 BRIT Awards will be looking for a new host as it has been reported Roman Kemp has been told he won't return for the upcoming ceremony which is set to take place in March
by Seamus Duff · The MirrorThe BRIT Awards are looking for a new host - as reports have claimed Roman Kemp won't be back for the 2025 ceremony. He is said to 'accept' the decision.
The 31-year-old radio host won praise from fans when he slipped into the presenting role of the iconic music ceremony last year. He helmed the series along Love Island bombshell Maya Jama and fellow radio host Clara Amfo.
But it appears Roman's time as a BRIT Awards host is a one and done affair as it is reported he won't be back for the 2025 event - which will be the 45th. He had previously described his involvement in the awards as a "dream come true".
Roman's hosting of the 2024 event was hailed as a success by viewers - who have expressed disappointment that he won't be back this year. The radio star had previously been drafted in to host the BRITs last year as a last minute replacement for actor and DJ, Idris Elba - who had been forced to drop out at the last minute.
A source told the Daily Mail of the change up in hosting for 2025: "Roman has been told he isn't hosting this year. He loved it but accepts that these things change. He was flattered to be chosen to do it last year but he's a pro and gets it." The Mirror has contacted a spokesperson of the BRITs for comment.
Fans have complained online about Roman not returning for the upcoming awards - which are expected to take place in London on 1 March. Some have highlighted that Roman does, at least, have other TV work that he can turned to, with one commenting: "Oh well back to the One Show for him then."
While others have questioned who could replace him. One TV fan wrote: "I've nothing against Roman but I do wonder why he gets all the gigs that he does. He seems a nice enough lad but he isn't anything special."
While other TV fans have started petitioning for a specific comedy icon to take on the hosting role. One wrote online: "Ricky Gervais please."
After being announced as a 2024 host, Roman commented in an interview: "When they told me, I cried. The BRITs has always been on this pedestal for me, because in terms of excitement in the UK, there is nothing like it."
And following the awards, the star posted on Instagram: "And just like that, the Brits was hosted. Dream come true had so much fun on what was a very special night."
Roman is, of course, the son of Spandau Ballet singer Martin Kemp and Wham! performer Shirlie Holliman. He found fame as a radio host on Capital FM - a position he held from 2014 until last year.
He has been a regular presenter on the BBC's The One Show since 2022 and has appeared on Celebrity Gogglebox alongside his father since 2019. He has also won praise for raising awareness about mental health in a number of documentaries where he has spotlighted the suicide rates of men.
