BBC Strictly's Jamie Borthwick speaks out on show 'curse' after 'cosy' night with pro

Strictly Come Dancing star Jamie Borthwick has addressed the show's 'curse' after admitting to having a 'cosy' night with professional dance partner Michelle Tsiakkas

Actor Jamie Borthwick has addressed rumours he has become victim of the Strictly Come Dancing 'curse'.

The EastEnders star, known for playing Jay Brown in the BBC soap, is paired with professional dancer Michelle Tsiakkas, 29, on the current series of Strictly. They have been impressing show judges with their moves on the dancefloor, yet Jamie recently confessed to having enjoyed a "cosy" night with Michelle.

Speaking on a recent episode of the hit BBC dance competition, Jamie revealed: "We had a delirious night the other night when we were just laying there." He appeared to stumble over his words as he tried to correct what he said. Host Claudia Winkleman appeared visibly shocked by his admission, which left Jamie insisting: "On the rehearsal floor."

The TV star has since clarified his blunder and addressed his relationship with Michelle. "With the old Strictly curse, you definitely ain't got no worries about Michelle," he told Closer Magazine. "She's like a sister, mum and auntie all rolled into one. We've got sibling chemistry."

Just last week, Michelle accused Jamie of lying about his love life. When questioned if his role on Strictly had attracted a lot of female attention, Jamie denied it. However, Michelle quickly interjected, stating to the Daily Star: "He's lying..." Jamie then clarified: "No, honestly not really, I can't believe it either, I get some messages but I don't really read them. Being on EastEnders hasn't really helped or hindered it [his love life] to be fair. I'm usually too busy playing snooker. "

Addressing a potential romance with Michelle, he added: "When you're with someone eight hours a day you just naturally build a rapport and you just learn about each other. They tried to do the romance thing with us but I very firmly put it to bed. She is like my sister, it would be very weird."

Michelle echoed Jamie's sentiments as she branded him a "brother". Jamie previously told The Mirror: "The idea of that whole Strictly curse, well it's definitely not going to be a thing here because it would be weird doing that with my sister. Michelle and I met before Strictly and we instantly had a connection. But she is like a sister, an aunt, a mum, a best friend. She's looking after me, she's mothering me."

Professional dancer Michelle is loved up with partner Simone Arena, who Jamie secretly idolises. He explained: "Her boyfriend doesn't know it yet because we've never met, but he's my rock already. I've been looking him up, watching him dance on his shows and I'm like, 'Mate, you're my icon'. He's an absolutely fantastic dancer."

Before joining Strictly, Jamie quipped "no-one loves him" when asked if he had imposed a sex-ban to fully concentrate on the contest. "No booze ban for me," he told the Daily Mail. "I've never drunk ever in my life and no one loves me, so I can't do a sex ban. No bans for me, just loads of food."
