by Mark Jones · The MirrorTottenham midfielder Rodrigo Bentancur has been hit with a seven-game domestic ban by the Football Association following comments he made about his captain Son Heung-min in the summer.
In June Uruguay midfielder Bentancur was filmed speaking in a social media clip saying that South Korean people "all look the same" in an interview conducted in Spanish which appeared on the Uruguayan television programme 'Por La Camiseta.'
The host asked Bentancur if he could get him a Spurs player's shirt to which the midfielder, 27, replied "Sonny's?", before adding "It could be Sonny's cousin too as they all look the same."
The FA confirmed earlier this year that Bentancur had been charged with an 'aggravated breach' of their rules, and the midfielder issued an apology on Instagram for what he called "a very bad joke".
Son accepted his team-mate's apology, writing on social media: "He made a mistake, he knows this and has apologised. Lolo [Bentancur] would not mean to ever intentionally say something offensive. We are brothers and nothing has changed at all.
"We're past this, we're united, and we will be back together in pre-season to fight for our club as one."
Bentancur has played 15 times for Tottenham in all competitions this season, scoring his only goal so far in Sunday's 2-1 defeat at home to Ipswich.
He has only just returned to the Uruguay squad after serving a four-match suspension for his role in fights following his side's Copa America elimination at the hands of Colombia last summer.
Pending an appeal, Bentancur will be absent for the Premier League games against Manchester City, Fulham, Bournemouth, Chelsea, Southampton and Liverpool, as well as the Carabao Cup quarter-final against Manchester United on December 19. He could make his return to domestic action at Nottingham Forest on Boxing Day.
He will however be able to play in the Europa League during the ban, and so will be eligible for the home clash with Roma on November 28 and the trip to Rangers on December 12.
