Arne Slot refuses to change Mo Salah stance after Liverpool star's contract outburst
Liverpool talisman Mohamed Salah spoke to the press earlier this week to express his frustration over contract talks, and now Reds boss Arne Slot has responded to the incident
by Dan Marsh · The MirrorArne Slot has reacted to comments made by Mohamed Salah and his contract situation at the weekend.
The Liverpool star sparked a frenzy on social media in the aftermath of Sunday's 3-2 win over Southampton by admitting he is "more out than in" at the moment with his contract up in the summer.
Salah's interview has been the talk of Anfield ahead of Wednesday night's huge meeting with Real Madrid in the Champions League AND a showdown with title rivals Manchester City on Sunday.
Slot was inevitably asked about it in his pre-match press conference and said: "I've said many times, I don't share this [information]. If I look at my line-ups, Mo is more in than out!
"We want his numbers to be where they are. I don't think he is distracted. I haven't seen it. He is just fully focused on the game. These things are in the media and fans talk about it, but the players don't. I don't think there is any distraction for him or for the players."
Reds full-back Andy Robertson was also asked about the situation. He said in the same press conference: "Honestly, for us as players it's nothing we can get involved in. All I can say is you look at Mo today, yesterday, he is the ultimate professional. In fairness that goes for Trent and Virgil who are in similar positions. Every one of them is focused on the next game, they have been leaders this season.
"For us in the training room, if they can do that then we can do that. They are not being distracted by anything else."
He added: "[Mo] doesn't look sad to me. Mo comes into training every single day with a smile on his face, in the gym and training pitch working as hard as ever. He is one of the happiest people in the training ground. He looks happy at all times.
"He's such a focused individual he'll be at his house now focused on tomorrow night. That's what the best players in the world do."
