While some Stranger Things fans were disappointed by the finale, this isn’t the first time loyal fans have been let down by the ending of their favourite show
The Sex and the City spin-off was always going to be on the back foot after Samantha Jones star Kim Cattrall refused to return for the follow-up to the hit HBO series. Fans lambasted the programme for many reasons, including the death of a major character. The series was finally canned in 2025 and concluded with Carrie Bradshaw finally going it alone rather than waiting for a man. House of Cards essentially lost its lead, the unscrupulous Frank Underwood, and with it the plot. The cat-and-mouse BBC comedy-drama starring Jodie Comer and Sandra Oh was slammed by fans after it played in to the disappointing trope of killing off LGBT+ characters. Russian hitwoman Villanelle bit the bullet after finally sharing a kiss with Eve Polastri, following seasons of build-up and electric chemistry between the two women. The ending was so disappointing that even Killing Eve’s author Luke Jennings blasted the TV adaptation’s abrupt ending for “bowing to convention”, but promised fans that Villanelle would still live on the page if not on the screen.(Image:BBC)
The Kristen Bell-fronted teen mystery drama saw Veronica Mars finally finding happiness, only to have it cruelly snatched away from her when her love interest Logan was killed off with a car bomb. This would pave the way for the student, who moonlighted as a private investigator, to go on new adventures.
