Sam Thompson and Zara McDermott to awkwardly reunite on TV after shock split

Sam Thompson and Zara McDermott's post-breakup awkwardness is set to unfold on-screen as the ex-couple appear together in a pre-split segment on Michael McIntyre's Big Show.

Former couple Sam Thompson and Zara McDermott are set to appear together on television in an upcoming episode of 'Michael McIntyre's Big Show,' despite their recent breakup.

The pair, who ended their relationship just weeks ago, filmed a segment for the BBC program's 'Midnight Gameshow' sketch prior to their split. In this segment, host Michael McIntyre surprises celebrities by waking them up in the middle of the night to participate in various games.

A trailer for the new series shows McIntyre waking Sam and Zara as they lie in bed. Sam, dressed only in his underwear, reacts with surprise, exclaiming, "What the hell?" Zara, wearing black pyjamas, looks on in shock. The timing of the broadcast is less than ideal for the ex-couple, as they have recently ended their romance, with Sam moving out of their shared home.

A source mentioned that while the segment was enjoyable and humorous at the time of filming, it may now be awkward for both to watch. They source told The Sun : "Zara and Sam were really happy and in love when they were surprised at home by Michael for his Midnight Gameshow.

“But now they’ve broken up it’s going to be rather ­awkward if the BBC chooses to air it. Obviously Zara and Sam enjoyed it so they are not kicking up a stink. But it is rather embarrassing to think they’re going to have to watch themselves back on telly when they were still together.

“Their skit was really funny and they had such a great time with Michael so it would be a shame for it to be canned. Plus the new series starts really soon, so to cut it out would be a nightmare. Zara and Sam are having to sit tight and wait to find out. If the BBC does air it, you can guarantee they won’t be tuning in.”

Zara and Sam shocked fans when their romance came crashing down over the festive break, as they decided to spend Christmas and New Year apart. Neither Sam or Zara have commented on the split, leaving many questions for fan. Zara recently posted pictures from her trip to Paris on Instagram.

As it appeared Zara is focused on moving on, her post was flooded with the same question. One fan asked: "Where’s Sam?" Another added: "Where is Sam?" Someone else commented: "Have u or sam actually split up? Like any kind of statement to those who follow u both?" A fourth wrote: "I’m sorry but please tell me Sam is hiding under that table. I canny take it."

Yet others came to the defence of the former couple. One follower said: "Catch a grip with the Sam comments. Zara is a boss!!! Let’s applaud her work, her positive vibe, her killing it!!!!" Another shared: "Do you people asking about Sam not realise he does work on HITS RADIO so thats where he is."

Another fan wrote: "I know @zara_mcdermott and @samthompsonuk want to keep what is going on privately....but maybe they could both put a joint statement out but by not saying anything more ppl comment on they posts asking about what's happening..see where I caming from...."
