Katya Jones sparks fears of quitting Strictly after 'feeling betrayed' by Wynne Evans axe
There are fears Strictly Come Dancing professional Katya Jones could be ready to quit the hit BBC dance show following the exit of Wynne Evans on the live tour
by Jamie Roberts · The MirrorIt's feared Katya Jones could be about to leave her Strictly Come Dancing role after the exit of celebrity dance partner Wynne Evans from the tour.
According to reports, the professional dancer feels "betrayed" by the way the Welsh opera singer has been treated. Sources claim the 35-year-old star feels let down with how Wynne, 53, has been treated following a leaked video showing him make an inappropriate comment.
In the clip from a photocall in Birmingham with fellow cast stars JB Gill, Montell Douglas, Shayne Ward and Jamie Borthwick, Wynne made a lewd joke as Janette Manrara walked over. As he and other cast members were huddled together for a photo, he was recorded singing out to Janette: "Go Compare," before adding: "Not too close to Jamie."
He was then heard using the demeaning term "spit roast" in reference to a lewd sexual act. While Janette's reaction was unclear as her face was momentarily covered by other Strictly stars, there was awkward laughter, elsewhere with Jamie wincing as Evans appeared to snigger at himself.
Now, after supporting Wynne following his apology, Katya is said to be "really upset" with how the situation has been dealt with. A source told The Sun: "Katya is really upset about what has happened and feels like it's all been blown out of proportion. She was shocked that bosses hauled Wynne in and feels like they have been thrown under the bus.
"Her friends are worried this is making her fall out of love with the show and wonder if she will do it again next year. There is only so much drama she can take."
Following the incident, it was confirmed Wynne was going to "take some time out" from his BBC radio show and tour "to prioritise my wellbeing". Katya was quick to support the star as she continues the tour without him. She made it clear where her loyalties lie as she broke her social media silence. In the Instagram post, she shared his statement and added: "Let's show humanity and consideration. I will miss you my darling boy."
She later shares a snap of Wynne on stage on the Strictly tour. She wrote alongside the photo: "Really missed this tonight." In a further update, Katya posted a defiant statement on her Instagram again. The 10 word message read: "Let him who is without sin cast the first stone." Katya has also managed to keep Wynne with her on tour as she shared a photo from the latest performance.
The Go Compare advert star has since reportedly been hit with two more claims of inappropriate language used.
