Leandro Trossard insists he is not a moaner - and is just a winner.

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta said last month that the Belgium forward was the biggest moaner in the dressing room but liked it because it showed his determination.

Ahead of the New Year's Day trip to Brentford the Gunners boss had said: "Leo is naturally a bit of a moaner but I like that because he’s very competitive and you have training sessions, he’s always busy with the referee’s decision, because he wants to win. That’s what I love.

"He always wants to be the best and when he’s not there, he’s not happy. But that’s what pushes him."

Trossard, set to make his 100th appearance for the club against Dinamo Zagreb after joining from Brighton in January 2023, accepted what could be seen as criticism and even admitted sometimes his body language made him look unhappy on the pitch.

But Trossard said: "I'm just a winner and, if a decision goes against me and I think it's unfair, I think that really personal, I would say so whether that is in training or in games. I want to win every game. And I think that should be the mindset of every football player.

"I guess you want to play, you want to start, that's obviously only natural. I would say maybe the body language at that point could be.

"But I'm always ready. And I think I've shown that as well, even if I'm on the bench, that I can make an impact, as a sub. And, and I want to do that in both ways. If I'm a starter or a sub, I want to help the team to win games.”

Trossard, 30, who has 18 months left on his current deal with another 12 month option, made it clear he wants to stay even though he says he is not worrying about talk about his deal.

Trossard added: “I’m just focused on my football. But you never know in football how things turn out but I’, really happy here.

“I still want to win things here and I think there’s a great squad, a great team with a great manager who pushed us every day to achieve great things.”
