Strictly Come Dancing star, Anton Du Beke, has admitted he was in a state of shock when he found out his wife, Hannah, was pregnant.

The ballroom guru, 57, became a father aged 50 when his twins, George and Henrietta, were born seven years ago. Anton and his wife had undergone IVF to try and conceive after Hannah suffered from endometriosis. However, with the costly procedure by no means a certainty, they had no idea how lucky they were about to be.

Admitting he was "stunned" when he found out the couple were going to be parents to twins, Anton revealed his first words to his wife were: "F*** me babe". Recalling the day he found out the joyous news, he said: "We're in the place. In the room. And the fella's there … the doctor… and he’s got the … the camera thing … and he goes: 'Oh, there's one heartbeat' and I go: 'Wow'. And he's fiddling around. And then he goes: 'Oh, there's another heartbeat. And I was stunned, and I went: 'F**k me, babe'. Sort of like that, stunned. And I couldn't speak. I went: 'Well done you'."

Seeing the startled reaction on her husband's face, Hannah asked Anton he if wanted to go to the golf club, to which the sparkly star told the mum-to-be: "Maybe I'll have a wander around and I'll hit a few shots”.

Speaking to Giovanni Flecther on her podcast, Happy Mum, Happy Baby, he continued: "And then we end up with this perfect, perfect boy and girl who are just... I know everybody says it about their own children, but they are just magical."

Explaining he would have 100 children if IVF weren't so expensive, he added: "I could, I'd have 100. I do it repeatedly. I, I love it so much. Every single bit about being… I love it, it's stupendous. It's, I, I would do it over and over and over again if I had enough money."

Back in 2023, Anton, who met Hannah at a golf club in 2011 and married her in 2017, spoke about their fertility struggles, revealing her battle with endometriosis.

On the Parenting Hell podcast, he described his wife as "practically perfect" and touchingly said she was "everything I thought she would be". He remarked: "I thought she'd be an excellent mum, always knew she'd be a great mum but she couldn't have children. I thought, 'Isn't it funny how nature works in mysterious ways?'"

Anton expressed the "sad irony" that his partner, who "would be an incredible mum", faced fertility struggles. Thankfully, their story took a positive turn with the success of IVF treatments.

Speaking to the Mirror in 2022, the Strictly star said becoming a dad at 50 was the "best thing" that had ever happened to him, sharing: "We had children when I was 50 and it has been the best thing that ever happened in my life. We decided to have children and we went down the IVF route. We did it and had the greatest fortune as we became pregnant. We thank our lucky stars. It is the most incredible thing in the world and has been brilliant.”
