Holly Willoughby cries as she reunites with saviour from 'scariest moment' of her life

Michael McIntyre’s Big Show saw the comedian reintroduce Holly Willoughby to a figure from her past, and the star wept as she admitted it was hard to explain how special the mystery guest was to her

Michael McIntyre’s Big Show had an unforgettable moment tonight, when star Holly Willoughby was brought to tears during a special segment.

The BBC comedian hosted the game Remember Me?, during which celebs are faced with a person from their past, and are tasked with remembering who they are. For Holly, 44, it wasn’t a struggle at all, as she revealed that her mystery guest had been her guide during the “most scary” but most incredible moment of her life.

As soon as Michael asked Holly to identify the woman next to him on stage, the Dancing on Ice presenter said: “I’m thinking that we might have met each other 13 years ago, and the reason why I’m saying 13 years ago is because that was the day my daughter Belle was born.”

Holly started tearing up midway through her sentence as the beauty of the reunion sunk in, and held eye contact with her guest as the audience cheered.

The Celebrity Bear Hunt host continued: “And this amazing, incredible woman is called Fredette. And Fredette is a midwife. And Fredette was so amazing because Belle was five weeks premature so she was so tiny, and I was so scared and worried and… I just remember, Fredette, I just remember you saying, ‘We are going to breathe this baby out. We are going to breathe this baby out.’ And I just listened to you, and it was just your voice then when you just said ‘Do you remember me?’ It was your voice. And I’ll never forget your voice.”

Michael then turned to Fredette, who delivered Holly’s second child - the star also shares one younger son and one older son with her husband of 17 years, Dan Baldwin. “So do you remember Hol?” he asked the life-changing midwife.

“Yes I do!” she confirmed, while smiling at Holly. “What do you remember of that? Because it was quite tense,” the host asked her, with Fredette summarising: “It was. But she was smashing.”

Holly spoke up again, trying to put into words how special Fredette was to her. “You made that moment that was probably the most - I can’t, it’s really hard to - it’s one of the most scary things you’ll ever go through, because you just want everything to be okay,” she said.

After reflecting on her heartwrenching fears over her premature baby, she then pointed into the audience and told her midwife: “And my daughter is actually up there. An amazing, beautiful girl, and you were the person who brought her into the world. So thank you, thank you so much.”

Holly’s voice was shaking as she gave her heartfelt thanks to Fredette, with her eyes holding back tears. Michael then asked if she’d like to come down to the stage, and the celeb immediately went behind the curtains of her private box to make her way towards the miracle midwife.

After a moment of running backstage Holly appeared on stage with Michael and Fredette, and grabbed the woman into a long hug. The star shared some quiet words with Fredette which weren’t picked up by the show’s audio, but could be heard as she said “Thank you for coming and doing this, it’s really special,” while holding back tears once more.
