Thomas Tuchel is set to bolster his England coaching staff with the addition of Henrique Hilario after the Chelsea goalkeeper coach handed in his notice.

The former Blues boss, 51, was announced as England's new head coach last month, though he did not take charge of last week's Nations League double-header after agreeing to start said role in 2025.

It has already been confirmed that Tuchel's former assistant at Stamford Bridge and Bayern Munich, Anthony Barry, will join him in the national team's new-look set-up. And it now seems as though another familiar face will join him in the form of Hilario.

As first revealed by The Telegraph, Hilario has resigned from his current role at Chelsea following weeks of speculation that he would link up with Tuchel again.

The 49-year-old remained with the Londoners after Tuchel was harshly sacked back in September 2022. He has been with the Blues for over 18 years after first joining them as a player back in 2006.

Hilario's resignation came after Chelsea made it clear they would not sanction him combining his current duties with a role on the England national team.

Hilario and Barry will be joined by another familiar face in the form of James Melbourne, Chelsea's former head of performance analysis who has also left his role with the Blues to link up with Tuchel and the England national team.

Lee Carsley signed off his interim reign in style with a thumping 5-0 win over the Republic of Ireland last weekend before declaring that Tuchel had all the tools required to go on and win the 2026 World Cup.

When Carsley was asked if England could win the tournament, he replied: "I think we are in a good position to do that. I think we have the talent to do it. We have got all of the tools. We just need to play them in the order."

He added: "Thomas' pool of players has increased so we have left the squad in a fantastic position. I have been lucky now to be at the last couple of World Cups and the timing of the players being in form, physically and mentally, at the right time, picking the right squad."
