PS Plus Essential December 2024 games confirmed – Game of the Year winner It Takes Two arrives

PS Plus has come through with one final festive gift as the Essential games drop of December delivers It Takes Two to players.

The festive season is finally upon us, and Sony is set to deliver some gifts nice and early for us this year. It might be doing the same as every other month, but it really feels like a special occasion.

The strength of recent PS Plus deliveries has been unmistakable. PS Plus Extra and Premium have been on a massive roll as of late, with November 2024’s Extra and Premium drop delivering GTA 5, Dying Light 2, and more absolute stompers following a massive release in October stuffed with the likes of Dead Island 2 and Two Point Campus. It seems that the real value is in the lower tiers though, as the Essential November 2024 drop delivered a day-one release in Death Note Killer Within and Ghostwire: Tokyo to keep RPG fans happy too.

The fact that players can download these games and keep them forever, playable provided they stay subscribed to PS Plus Essential, is a major selling point for the service, and does a lot of heavy lifting when it comes to distracting players from the fact that they have to pay for online services, unlike their PC-based counterparts.

There’s plenty to enjoy with PS Plus, and now, as it braces for the final Essential drop of the year, fans are holding out hope that the year will end with a small collection of games to carry them through to the new year. Though our PS Plus Essential December 2024 predictions guessed that System Shock’s remake would make an appearance, we were a little way off – but that doesn’t mean we haven’t got a massive month in store. Here are all of the PS Plus Essential December 2024 games confirmed to be coming to the service.

PS Plus Essential December 2024 games confirmed

In a new blog post, Sony has revealed each of the new games coming to the PS Plus service on Tuesday, December 3:

  • It Takes Two (PS5 | PS4)
  • Aliens: Dark Descent (PS5 | PS4)
  • Temtem (PS5)

It's a compelling drop, as even though It Takes Two has been out for some time, the game won the Game of the Year award at The Game Awards back in 2021, and Aliens: Dark Descent is peculiar too, as by chance, it also joined Xbox Game Pass today. Either way, it's a treat of a month yet again, and It Takes Two makes for the perfect game to play with a younger sibling or significant other over the festive period.

These PS Plus Essential December 2024 games will be landing next Tuesday, December 3, which means you'll have until then to claim the current PS Plus Essential games – Hot Wheels Unleashed 2 – Turbocharged, Ghostwire: Tokyo, and Death Note Killer Within. Get them added to your library before they'll be lost from the service for good, and you'll have to pay for them if you want to play them.
