Amanda Holden's Britain's Got Talent golden buzzer act Sydnie Christmas has opened up about her experience on the show, which has led to further opportunities she once had only dreamed of.

The 29-year-old wowed audiences during the audition rounds earlier this year with her rendition of Frank Sinatra's My Way - leading Amanda to hit the special golden buzzer.

After continuing to impress the judges and viewers throughout the further stages of the competition, she went on to win the final with 27.2 per cent of the overall vote.

Reflecting on her experience, Sydnie said while she loved every moment of the show, she questioned why she was put on last in the line-up on two occasions.

She shared: "Both the semi-final and final, for one, I went last and I nearly threw up. They kept putting me on last, I was like, 'Guys, this is not fair two days in a row, Oh My Goodness'.

"And then, it was the waiting before they announced who won, it was awful. I nearly had a full-on panic attack."

Thankfully for Sydnie, the anxiety of waiting to learn her fate was worth it and she has since rocketed to fame with a packed schedule.

As part of her future plans, she will sing at the Royal Variety Performance as well as the iconic Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles, as part of David Foster's 75th birthday celebrations next month.

On receiving the call to perform alongside the likes Andrea Bocelli, Michael Bublé and Jennifer Hudson at his 75th Birthday, she said: "It was crazy, it was over FaceTime so I tried to keep it cool, but after I couldn't cope with that, that's a dream come true. I won't believe it until I'm there doing it, I think."

Such opportunities almost didn't happen for the Kent-born singer, who admits she nearly gave up on her singing dream before the show, due to having no stability and wanting to start a family.

After a string of auditions from the age of 10, Sydnie joined a performing arts college which led to four professional jobs, but nothing permanent.

She recalled: "Then, I was going to stop it all now because I'm older and there's just no stability in it, and I would like to be a mother at some point, so I needed to start.

"I was going to throw in the towel and then I just went onto BGT, because I was brave enough and at the end, thought I had nothing to lose, and look what happened."

Quizzed on if Amanda has sent her love ahead of her US show, Sydnie added: "She's always been supportive and she always likes stuff on Instagram, yeah, I think I'll see her again at some point.

"She's only a phone call away if I need to ask her for advice if I need her, which is very kind of her."

Sydnie kicks off her My Way tour next February performing across many UK locations including; Canterbury, Liverpool and Sheffield.

This year's Royal Variety Performance would be also held on Friday 22 November 2024.
