Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner has been banned for driving for six months, after being caught speeding in South London last July. The 51-year-old was caught by a speed camera on Old Kent Road in Bermondsey at 7:30am.

Court records show that Glasner wrote to the court to plead guilty to the offence of travelling at 29mph in a 20mph zone. In a letter, shared by the Sun, he wrote: "I fully accept responsibility for my actions and understand the seriousness of this matter.

“I have taken steps to ensure it will not happen again.

“Due to the nature of my role, I will ensure I take the steps to address the issue.”

Previous driving offences meant that he was in line for an automatic ban, with a magistrate imposing a six-month disqualification on the Palace boss last week. He has also been ordered to pay a £660 fine, along with £130 costs and £264 victim surcharge.

The news comes as Palace return to Premier League action tonight (Wednesday) when they take on Tottenham Hotspur at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium (8pm kick-off). Both sides go into the game in faltering form.

Palace were on the end of a 2-1 defeat to Manchester United on Sunday afternoon, while Spurs are looking to avoid being dragged further into the relegation battle. Igor Tudor's men sit in 16th place, just one point above the bottom three.

Palace will be without defender Maxence Lacroix for the match, after he was shown a straight red card during the defeat against United.

Glasner will look to end the season on a high in what will be his last few games in charge of Palace, The Austrian, who led the club to their first ever FA Cup last season, announced earlier in the season that he will be leaving at the end of the campaign.

He has been linked with the Manchester United managerial vacancy. But Michael Carrick's impressive start as interim boss at Old Trafford may put some doubt over that.
