Xbox Series S plummets to lowest price in Amazon's Black Friday sale - now under £200
If you've been eager to get your hands on a new gaming console on a budget - you won't want to miss this Black Friday sale that's slashed the Xbox Series S to its cheapest price
by Meghan Coon · The MirrorFans of Microsoft's flagships will know that the Xbox Series S is already a budget-friendly console compared to its counterpart, the Xbox Series X, or rival consoles like the PS5. But, thanks to this Black Friday sale, Amazon is currently offering the Series S at one of the cheapest prices, as it's slashed to under £200.
Xbox Series S is the digital-only and slightly lower-spec member of the Xbox Series X|S family, released side by side in 2020. The Series S offers players a way to get into the latest generation of consoles without needing to splurge upwards of £400 for an Xbox Series X or PS5. And this Black Friday has made it more affordable than ever.

The Xbox Series S typically costs around £250. However, Black Friday 2024 has arrived with one of the best deals available, as Amazon is offering the 512GB console for the reduced price of £199 for a limited time.
Despite the lower price point and lower specs, the Xbox Series S is compatible with every game released for the Xbox Series X, including current-gen exclusives like Starfield, Microsoft Flight Simulator, and Forza Motorsport (all of which are included on Xbox Game Pass).
Xbox says the Series S offers the "best value in gaming", with "lightning-fast" load times and gameplay up to 120 FPS, supporting up to 4K graphics, as well as the Quick Resume feature, which lets you switch seamlessly between different titles and instantly pick up from where you left off. It also offers 4K streaming on apps, including Netflix, Disney+ and Prime Video.
However, it’s worth noting the Series S is a disc-free console and is not compatible with an external disc drive, so you won’t be able to play your old Xbox games with this model. Without that being said, the Series S pairs very well with an Xbox Game Pass subscription – which gives you access to a library of over 400 games for as long as you're subscribed to the service.
If you've got a stockpile of old discs you'd love to play again; the Xbox Series X is the one to grab. Though not on sale with a major discount, the Xbox Series X boasts backwards compatibility and a disc tray that lets you play any Xbox title, from as far back as the 360. And for those who perfer Sony's gaming consoles, you can currently pick up the PlayStation 5 at the reduced price of £399.99, down from £479.99, in Amazon's Black Friday sale.
