Is Cole Palmer fit to start for Chelsea vs Leicester? Injury latest and FPL update
by Will Jenkins · football.londonCole Palmer will be at the front of Chelsea fans' minds as they are the first team to return to action in the Premier League following the international break.
Chelsea's star man pulled out of England duty for their Nations League games against Greece and Ireland. He played the full 90 minutes against Arsenal before the break after recovering from a knee injury. He was one of the eight players who withdrew from their Three Lions commitments.
Palmer was captured at the Chelsea training ground in Cobham getting involved in the training session. Although Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca has a large squad to pick from, he'll surely want his star player on the pitch to face his former side in the Midlands.
Here, football.london takes a look at whether the forward will be able to feature against Leicester.
What has been said on Palmer's injury?
Palmer has played the full 90 minutes of the Blues' past five Premier League games. He even continued playing after Lisandro Martinez's shocking challenge in the 1-1 draw with Manchester United. He wasn't included in the squad who beat FC Noah in the Conference League following the United clash.
Maresca has not spoken on Palmer's injury since the Arsenal game, but before the Gunners visited Stamford Bridge he said: "Cole is getting better, but because he can walk and have dinner doesn't mean he is completely fit."
Will Palmer be fit to face Leicester in Game week 12?
Fantasy Premier League have given Palmer a 75% chance of playing with a 'knock' listed as his injury. However, with his ability to play 90 minutes against Arsenal after the scraping challenge from Martinez, and now having a break withdrawing from the England squad, he has had plenty of recovery time.
This likely means that he will be in contention to face Leicester. The King Power stadium will surely be a hostile environment for Chelsea as Maresca returns to the club he managed last season. Finishing with 97 points, the Blues boss took Leicester to the top of the Championship, now, he will look to beat them himself.
