Arsenal have watched on as both Bukayo Saka and Declan Rice have left to play for their country, sitting and praying that they come through unscathed. The club and national side relationship is always an intriguing one, and the potential for a new coach coming into the setup only furthers that question.

Pep Guardiola is the latest person to be linked with a move for the England role after Gareth Southgate resigned following another European Championship final defeat. The Manchester City boss has not decided his club future yet leaving it open to interpretation and naturally speculation has grown.

Having lived and worked in England for nearly a decade now, he knows the players very well indeed. Arsenal meanwhile would certainly be affected by his appointment in many ways, which football.london has delved into.

Title rival blow

Guardiola has become the arch-nemesis of Arsenal over the past two seasons and continued into the current campaign. As manager of Man City, naturally, the main title rivals of Arsenal losing their figurehead will be a massive blow.

The question mark of who takes over with the managerial merry-go-round now in the healthiest of situations. No matter who would come in, they would be starting from a very difficult place with many areas of the team in need of regeneration as key members like Ederson, Kevin De Bruyne, Kyle Walker, John Stones, Nathan Ake, Rodri, Bernardo Silva, Ilkay Gundogan, Mateo Kovacic and Jack Grealish either in or very close to their thirties.

Working with the best

The aforementioned Rice and Saka might be players who Arsenal rather were not playing games with no direct relevance to the club, however, the arrival of Guardiola could change that. The idea that a manager of his pedigree would be coaching and developing Arsenal’s England stars while still being their players could be invaluable.

Arteta and Guardiola could rekindle the alliance they once had unofficially and be working together rather than against one another. A very strange visual as of today, yet Saka, Rice and any future talent would be emboldened by the aid of both coaches without question.

Establishing dominance

With Guardiola gone, only Unai Emery could be considered a perhaps more successful manager in the Premier League compared to Mikel Arteta. Yes, Erik ten Hag has won more trophies at Manchester United to this point, but the work at the two clubs to elevate them could not be more night and day.

Arteta has established Arsenal as Premier League title challengers and with Guardiola gone, he could do the same but in regard to being champions. The Champions League too comes into the fray and as a dominant force other doors open in the transfer market and with your existing players and their futures too.
