Martin Zubimendi drops Arsenal transfer clue as Andrea Berta makes dream striker move

by · football.london

Arsenal will be determined to return to winning ways this weekend. The Gunners will face Liverpool at Anfield on Sunday afternoon as Mikel Arteta looks secure UEFA Champions League for next season.

The north Londoners are currently second in the Premier League table, but just six points separates them from Nottingham Forest in sixth. Arsenal have only won one of their last five games in the English top flight and, with a trip to Merseyside on the horizon, they're hardly sitting comfortably.

While Arteta looks to end the campaign on a high, Andrea Berta will be working hard to bolster the squad ahead of next term. So, with that being said, football.london has rounded up all the latest Arsenal transfer news.

Zubimendi drops summer transfer clue

Martin Zubimendi appears to have soft-launched his departure from Real Sociedad. The 26-year-old continues to be heavily linked with a move to Arsenal ahead of the summer transfer window as Arteta looks to bolster his midfield.

In an emotional interview with official club media, Zubimendi reflected on his time in San Sebastian. As quoted by TBR Football, the Gunners target said: "We get used to so many good things happening to me.

"But sometimes you have to slow down, look back and realise everything you’re experiencing and everything you’ve achieved. Luckily, I’ve had the chance to experience many good things with Real Sociedad, many dreams come true. Europa League, Champions League, a title. I couldn’t ask for more."

football.london says: "Regardless of whether he joins Arsenal in the summer, this sounds like the beginning of the end for Martin Zubimendi at Real Sociedad. It just sounds like the Spanish club knows that he's going to leave, so they've decided to slowly break the news in small digestible instalments."

Berta eyes Gyokeres swoop

According to The Telegraph, Andrea Berta favours a move for Viktor Gyokeres ahead of the summer transfer window. The 26-year-old striker has been heavily linked with a switch to the Premier League for a while now as he continues to impress at Sporting CP.

The report claims Gyokeres is expected to prioritise Arsenal over Manchester United, who are also keen, if he leaves the José Alvalade Stadium. The Telegraph add that Alexander Isak remains the 'dream target' for the Gunners, but Newcastle United insist he's not for sale.

football.london says: "Arsenal should have signed Viktor Gyokeres last summer, so it's good to see Andrea Berta finally get the ball rolling. I think he'd be a good fit. Hopefully, the Gunners can secure his signature for a fairly reasonable fee."

Arsenal given Mbeumo transfer update

Thomas Frank has insisted that it will cost clubs 'a lot of money' to sign Bryan Mbeumo and Yoane Wissa from Brentford. The former, more so than the latter, has been linked with a move to some of the 'big six' in the Premier League recently.

"I would like him to stay, I like our best players to stay," Frank said on Mbeumo's future. "We all know that we are a selling club but [Yoane Wissa and Mbeumo] are that good that it would take a very good club with a lot of money to pay for them.

"Both of them have so much quality, Bryan has been here six years and has developed massively, he’s done everything he can."

football.london says: "Bryan Mbeumo would be a brilliant squad signing for any 'big six' club in the Premier League. I'm not sure he's the final piece of the puzzle so to say, but he significantly raises the floor."
