Premier League get Man City 115 charges case update as club 'confident' on verdict

Manchester City are reportedly confident that they will not receive a transfer ban or be stripped of any titles as part of any would-be sanctions should they be found guilty of breaching Premier League financial rules.

The reigning champions are accused of more than 115 instances of financial misconduct between 2009 and 2018, with the charges brought 26 months ago.

A hearing took place from September to December last year and, now, an independent panel must review each charge to determine the fate of the champions.

The verdict's arrival reputedly has been "imminent" for quite some time now.

However, little is clear about the impending outcome amid uncertainty about what kind and severity of penalty will befall on them if found guilty. It must be stressed, too, that City strongly deny all charges against them - and say they are backed up by "irrefutable evidence" to support their case.

A new report from Spain suggests now that City are "confident" they can avoid certain forms of punishment.

Relevo reports that outgoing sporting director, Txiki Begiristain, plans to delay his departure from the club to assist with the summer transfer window.

He will purportedly do this alongside his successor, Hugo Viana, to ensure a seamless transition of power.

They also acknowledge this development comes "with the possible Premier League sanction against City for failing to comply with Financial Fair Play.

"The club's management is confident there won't be a transfer ban, much less a loss of titles."

However, Relevo also outlines that a hefty fine or points deduction during the upcoming Premier League season remains possible. A points deduction would be particularly detrimental to City - as it could theoretically put them at risk of relegation from the top-flight for the first time in decades.

Recent speculations suggest that lawyers representing other Premier League teams would likely be eager to take legal action against the club if City are found guilty.

Once again, though, it must be stressed City claim to have a comprehensive body of irrefutable evidence.
