Chelsea dealt huge injury scare vs Aston Villa as Liam Rosenior forced to make change
by Jake Stokes · football.londonWesley Fofana appeared to suffer a hamstring injury during the second half of Chelsea's 4-1 win over Aston Villa. The Blues defender was replaced by Tosin Adarabioyo in the final quarter of an hour, and he was later spotted limping down the tunnel.
Fofana had gone down a few moments prior to coming off and, after receiving some on-field treatment from the medical staff, he was helped off the pitch. Despite the nature of the problem and his history, he was given the all-clear to come back on.
The France international soldiered on for a few moments before making way for Tosin. Rather than join his teammates in the dugout, Fofana limbered down the tunnel and headed for the dressing room for further assessments.
The 25-year-old marked his return to the starting lineup with an impressive performance. Fofana missed the defeat to Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium due to suspension after getting a red card the previous weekend.

During the clash against the Gunners, Pedro Neto was also given his marching orders. So, when Liam Rosenior faced the press at Cobham on Monday afternoon, he was grilled on his side's discipline.
"Pedro has apologised to the group," said the Chelsea boss. "We miss him for Wednesday (against Aston Villa). I just need to see an improvement in the behaviour now. It's not just Pedro.
"We've had bookings, people speaking about dissent. We've had needless bookings in terms of fouls. If we are to improve and get to where we want to be, we have to make a conscious step now to make sure it doesn't happen again."
Rosenior continued: "Yes, we're a young team. It's not an excuse. We're an outstanding team. We are one of the youngest in the league, one of the youngest in Europe.
"The beautiful thing about having a young team is sometimes you need to go through experiences to improve. This is a massive learning experience for my group. I do not want it to be a learning experience where we fail in what we want to achieve.
"But these setbacks that we are having, we have to learn from. Because if we do learn from them, we've proven, even in my short time in that, we can be an elite team for a long time."
On how he plans to solve the Blues' discipline problem, Rosenior said: "Sometimes our stick is showing what the value of not having a red card is. If you look at our stats, when we have 11 men on the pitch, before my job here and after my job here, our percentage chance of winning goes through the roof.
"That needs to be motivation in itself to make sure we stay disciplined in key moments. Reacting to setbacks, sometimes a setback is giving the ball away. Sometimes a setback is a referee making a decision you disagree with.
"In that moment, you have to react positively. Then you have to think of the next thing. That's the things that we have to go after in order for our discipline to improve."
