Arne Slot, Manger of Liverpool

How Arsenal can stop Liverpool winning the Premier League title today

by · football.london

The 2025/26 Premier League title race has been a two-horsed one for much of the campaign.

But as we head into the real business end of the season it looks a foregone conclusion that Liverpool will lift the Premier League trophy aloft for only the second time.

Arne Slot's team have been the best side in the competition by far this season and have stormed away from Arsenal in the race at the top to open up an almost unassailable lead.

In fact, that lead could be made completely unassailable on Sunday, depending on results. Liverpool could claim the Premier League title with five games of the season to go, albeit they will have to wait for their final home game of the season to lift the trophy aloft.

The Reds are currently 13 points clear of the Gunners at the top of the table, with each having six games left to play. The first of those six games will be played on Sunday.

Arsenal travel to Ipswich Town for a 2pm kick-off, with Liverpool making the trip to Leicester City in the 4.30pm clash. For Liverpool to be able to win the title on Sunday, Arsenal would have to lose to the Tractor Boys.

Back-to-back draws in the top flight have seen Arsenal lose more ground to the Reds, but they can at least make sure the title race goes on for another weekend at least.

The Gunners can stop Liverpool winning the league on Sunday by picking up any sort of result against Kieran McKenna's Ipswich side. A draw at Portman Road would mean the gap is 12 points - a gap Liverpool could extend to 15 with a win over Leicester with only five games left.

That would mean it was all-but concluded, but mathematically, Arsenal could still overhaul the Reds. A win over Ipswich ensures the title race goes on for another week, with Liverpool taking on Tottenham on April 27 and could claim the crown by beating Arsenal's North London rivals.
