Everton vs Arsenal simulated to predict huge Premier League clash
by Lewis Barton · football.londonArsenal have the chance to put pressure on Premier League title rivals Liverpool when the Gunners take on Everton in the early kick-off later today.
Goals from Mikel Merino and the returning Bukayo Saka saw Arsenal pick up a 2-1 win against Fulham in their last Premier League outing, but with Liverpool beating Everton 1-0 a day later, the Gunners remained 12 points off the top spot in the table. Now, Arsenal travel to Merseyside to take on Everton, where a win would close the gap to nine points ahead of the Reds' trip to Fulham tomorrow.
As great as it was for Arsenal fans to see Saka return to action, Mikel Arteta's side were handed another huge blow, with Gabriel being ruled out for the rest of the season after picking up an injury midweek. Arsenal were held to a 0-0 draw in their last meeting with Everton, with the Toffees' 1-0 defeat against Liverpool on Wednesday their first defeat in the league since January 15.
So, can Arsenal pick up a much-needed three points in the Premier League today? We used EA FC 25 to get a score prediction.
Everton vs Arsenal score predicted by simulation
To complete this simulation, we used EA FC 25 and updated the squads with the latest injuries and suspensions.
We predict that Everton could set up in a 4-2-3-1 formation, with their line-up as follows: Pickford; O'Brien, Tarkowski, Branthwaite, Mykolenko; Garner, Gueye; Alcaraz, Doucoure, Ndiaye; Beto.
We predict that Arsenal could line up in a 4-3-3 formation, with their starting XI as follows: Raya; Timber, Saliba, Kiwior, Lewis-Skelly; Partey, Rice, Odegaard; Saka, Merino, Martinelli.
Arsenal dominated the early stages at Goodison Park, and they came close to taking the lead 20 minutes in when Saka rounded the 'keeper and shot, but a great recovery challenge saw James Tarkowski clear the ball off the line. Gabriel Martinelli then had a fantastic chance of his own when he was played one-on-one with the 'keeper from William Saliba's long ball, but a lack of composure saw the Brazilian fire at the body of Jordan Pickford.
Everton didn't have a shot in the first half as Arsenal dominated, but as the game went on, the visitors got more frustrated as they started to become wasteful in front of goal. In the later stages of the game, Everton started to push further forward and try and steal three points, but this only worked in Arsenal's favour as the Gunners scored the opener in the 86th minute.
After intercepting a pass in the middle, a one-two between Martinelli and Declan Rice saw the latter surge towards goal, with the Everton defenders backing off the midfielder. Allowed to shoot, Rice's powerful effort swerved away from Pickford and into the net, giving Arteta's side the three points late on.
EA FC 25 predicted final score: Everton 0-1 Arsenal
