Chelsea duo picked in Premier League Team of the Season as outstanding form recognised
by Joe Doyle · football.londonChelsea duo Cole Palmer and Moises Caicedo have been named in Alan Shearer's Premier League Team of the Season so far.
Palmer and Caicedo have helped lead the Blues to third in the table after their home draw against Arsenal in the last game before the international break. It completed a strong start to the campaign for Enzo Maresca's side, who have perhaps exceeded expectations following the arrival of a new manager.
The Blues have been in particularly good form in recent weeks, with just one defeat in their last 10 games. Some fine individual performances mean that Caicedo and Palmer have been recognised among the top stars in the division by the Premier League's all-time leading goalscorer.
Nottingham Forest goalkeeper Matz Sels is picked for his fine form which has helped pushed Nuno Espirito Santo's side up to fifth in the table. He's not the only Forest star there, with centre-back Nikola Milenkovic also in the side.
Elsewhere in defence, Liverpool duo Trent Alexander-Arnold and Virgil van Dijk are joined by Fulham left-back Antonee Robinson, with the Reds five points clear of Manchester City at the top of the table and Fulham impressing as they sit seventh.
Then it's into midfield and Liverpool's Ryan Gravenberch is the first selected of a trio. The other two are Chelsea's standout stars of the season, Caicedo and Palmer.
Caicedo has really impressed as the season has progressed, particularly since being partnered in the centre of the pitch by Romeo Lavia. Maresca's side have only lost once since the opening day of the season against Manchester City, a narrow defeat away at Anfield.
Palmer, meanwhile, has continued his strong form which saw him named Chelsea's Player of the Season as well as the PFA Fans' Player of the Year and the PFA Young Player of the Year among other awards.
The 22-year-old has scored seven Premier League goals so far this season, including a stunning display in the 4-2 win against Brighton in which he scored every goal for his side - all of which came in the first half of the match. The former Man City star has also added five assists in the league.
The rest of Shearer's team is completed by Mohamed Salah in attack, alongside Forest's Chris Wood and Brentford attacker Bryan Mbeumo, who has scored eight goals so far this season - with no place for Man City's Erling Haaland despite his 12 goals so far this season.
