Chelsea have been handed a much-needed boost for the FIFA Club World Cup following an encouraging update on Moises Caicedo.

Caicedo landed awkwardly on his ankle late in Chelsea’s FIFA Club World Cup clash against Fluminense on Tuesday night. After receiving treatment on the sidelines, the 23-year-old midfielder briefly returned to the pitch before being substituted.

"Moi, with his ankle, when it happened, I told him, because there were just two or three games to go, I told him that we could play with 10 players," Enzo Maresca said after the game. "It's important that we don't get too worked up because we have a game on Sunday, but we felt that we could try, and we can play. Hopefully he can be fit on Sunday, we'll see."

However, there has been positive news this week after the midfielder returned to training ahead of the Club World Cup clash with Paris Saint-Germain on. Sunday. Caicedo took part in open training on Thursday morning - just over 72 hours before the final is set to kick off.
