Gabriel Martinelli is one of the latest injury concerns to emerge for Arsenal during the international break.

The Gunners return to Premier League action on Saturday afternoon - after a two-week hiatus - where they will take on Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium. However, manager Mikel Arteta will be forced to have some of his star players on the side-lines through injury.

Martinelli has emerged as a fitness doubt for Arsenal after picking up a calf injury while playing for Brazil. The 23-year-old featured as a substitute for his country in their 2-1 win over Chile on Thursday night, where he managed just five minutes from their substitutes bench.

However, the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) have since stated that Martinelli would undergo tests on a possible calf injury after experiencing discomfort. "Player Gabriel Martinelli complained of pain in his right calf and underwent an MRI on Sunday night, which showed a small area of muscle edema in that area," the statement from the CBF read.

It continued: "The athlete continues to undergo physiotherapy treatment under the care of the Brazilian national team's medical department."

Arsenal now face a nervous wait to discover the full extent of the injury to Martinelli. As a result, the forward is a doubt for the Gunners' upcoming match against Bournemouth this weekend. After returning to Premier League action, Arsenal will then be back on Champions League duty next midweek - when they take on Shakhtar Donetsk.

It remains to be seen if Martinelli will have recovered from the injury to feature. If not, then Arsenal will be hoping to have the winger back for their Premier League fixture at home to Liverpool on October 27.

Martinelli is not the only fitness concern for Arsenal, though, with Bukayo Saka recently suffering a potential injury while starring for England against Greece last week. Saka withdrew from the Three Lions squad ahead of the game with Finland on Sunday to return to north London.

Kai Havertz and Thomas Partey withdrew from their respective national team squads with fitness concerns, while Martin Odegaard, Jurrien Timber, Ben White, Oleksandr Zinchenko and Kieran Tierney have, also, spent time on the side-lines in recent weeks with injury concerns of their own.
