Labor’s migration policy could reach the parliament as early as next week, but several unmet demands from the Coalition on how to crack down on the overseas intake means a deal is yet to be finalised.
Israel applauded the Albanese government for declining to join a UK-led push to crack down on imports from settlements in the occupied Palestinian territories, a move former Labor foreign minister Bob Carr has branded astonishing and cowardly. Foreign Minister Penny Wong said Australia was not pursuing a blanket-style import ban but would pursue other “targeted measures”.
One Nation leader Pauline Hanson’s interview with Chris Kenny on News24 last night went off the rails as she defended her party’s Victorian leader Warren Pickering over illicit drug use in his past.
In a separate interview yesterday morning, Hanson called Liberal frontbencher Andrew Hastie a “wanker” after the former SAS captain labelled One Nation and his critics who had never served their country “cowards”.
Iran is ready for a more intense war and will escalate counterstrikes if the US continues attacking its territory and infrastructure, according to a senior official from the Islamic Republic.
And the UN atomic watchdog’s board reported Iran to the UN Security Council for the first time in 20 years, for failure to cooperate in a long-running investigation into uranium traces detected by inspectors at various undeclared sites in Iran.
