Thanks for tuning in to our rolling coverage on the attack on Helen Haines.

Here’s what we know about this evolving story Wednesday evening.

Independent MP Helen Haines has lost both her legs but is in a stable condition, her husband said.
Governor-General Sam Mostyn told the nation that the attack on the loved and respected sitting MP “must be a moment for us to pause and to choose to be better” as she stood alongside Phil Haines to give a televised address from Melbourne’s Alfred hospital on Wednesday afternoon.
Holidaymakers sprang to action to help Haines by applying a tourniquet to her leg. Jacob Evans and Jacklyn Black reveal the words Haines spoke to them in the aftermath of the attack.
The deleted social media posts of the man accused of attacking Helen Haines reveal years of serious psychological struggle.
Former independent MP Cathy McGowan has warned that the attack on Haines has struck at the heart of Australian democracy, revealing that women across the electorate fear for their safety and question whether they can enter public life without facing violence.
