‘I came out in one piece’: Lee speaks after iconic splash

Bec Daniher, due to give birth next week, got in some early practice, pushing an enormous Andy Lee down the slide, dressed as a character from his kids book in an orb with a diameter almost as wide.

Lee succeeded in starting the day off with a splash, landing face first in the ice, causing the spotter to jump out of his seat in case a rescue was needed.

Big Freeze sliders brace for the cold.

“I’m glad I came out in one piece,” Lee said, adding that he “absolutely regrets” his choice of outfit.

The comedian said he was asked to do it before Neale’s death and was honoured to take part in an event that had since taken on even greater significance.
